Reflection
I came in to sophomore inspire week with a not so positive attitude because I was not happy about the options I was given. I think some of the activities we did on the first to days were valuable and others were a waste of time and something I can't see myself using in the future. I the resume writing was interesting and was necessary to have, I also enjoyed learning about Raise Me. I was not very interested in the ZeeMee video creator, but I can see where it is a new way of showing off things you are interested in. Something that I thought was a poor use of time was the test about careers. It was really dry and took way to much time for how little we got out of it, it was like a really long boring Buzzfeed test.
My favorite part of the week was the part that I thought was going to be the lamest. I had so much fun getting my hands dirty, sweating and building trails. There was something extremely rewarding about looking back at the trail that you had just worked on and seeing something that was completely transformed and walkable or rideable. When you run, bike, or hike on trails you never look down at the trail and say “Wow this trail is beautifully built,” we rarely ever appreciate the time and effort that was put in the miles of trails that we shred on. It was really eye opening to see and feel the back breaking work that goes into making the trails we take for granted. I loved doing this serious project and I never will see trail in the same way again.
