Project Description
The philosophy project is a project where the student gains knowledge about different philosophies and ideas so that they can create their own philosophy for their purpose on Earth. We learned about different philosophies including existentialism and transcendentalism. As a class we read booking including Into the Wild, and texts from different philosophers. We also focused on the idea of intertextuality. Intertextuality is the idea that everything we have learned, read, or experienced all adds a new layer to our knowledge.
My project focused on the individualism value of purpose and looking into the individual’s purpose instead of humanity’s purpose. I created a visual piece that allowed others to think about their own individual purpose and a written component that explained mine.

Project Reflection
My biggest take away from this project was me really putting a name and understanding to what my purpose is every day and what drives me. I decided that my purpose is for me to be happy and always be doing something new every day even if it is something small. I have always been invested in my future and knew that I needed to work hard now so the rest of my life is “good and successful” whatever that meant. I had always thought what is the point of everything we do but I had never seriously cared about it until we started watching a video of people on youtube talking about the meaninglessness of life. I realized that there wasn't paint in question it because #1 we will never know and #2 it really doesn't matter in the long term if all it is going to do is hold us back. I decided during this project that my purpose on earth and anyone else’s is whatever they want it to be. The existential bummer by Jason Silva says “I think we defy entropy and impermanence.” Each of our lives is going to come to an end but that doesn’t mean that we don’t have a beginning and a middle to create. Since we don't know what the purpose of humanity is and we will never know, we all need to create is our own individual purpose.
This project did the opposite of raising more questions for me. It helped me realize that although it is interesting to think about these questions it doesn't help us get anywhere and more times than not it hurts us. After reading so many papers and quotes from people question and contemplating their life and purpose on this earth it made me realize that I don't really care. Before I thought about things like what do we work so hard if we are just going to die? Who or what put us here and for what purpose? Is everyone's purposes the same? I would still love to know the answers to these but I don’t keep myself from sleeping over them, and it hardly bothers me that we will never know the answer to them.

“An Unfollowed Path” By Quincy Buickerood (146 words)
A One thousands steps on my journey down,

G There’s not much more that I would do
G To feel like I have my own route on this journey from which to choose.
